What are the Special Edition Gong Mallets?

The Special Editions aren’t just regular mallets in different colors. Each edition is a cohesive color scheme specially designed by Olli and his team. Galaxy takes you on a journey through the universe—deep, shimmering tones of blue, black, and silver. Ocean brings the sea to your fingertips—fresh, cool colors straight from an underwater adventure. Candy radiates pure joy—a cheerful play of colors that puts you in a good mood before the first note is even played.

Underneath, it features the same elements that characterize all Ollihess mallets: a natural rubber core, Oeko-Tex-certified fleece, and an ergonomic handle made of organically waxed beech wood.

What size is right for you?

Each Special Edition is available in four sizes. The M70 is the most compact and lightweight of the four—ideal for fast, dynamic playing and delicate overtones. Weighing in at around 186g, the S186 feels pleasantly light in the hand and is suitable for medium-sized gongs and long sessions. The M174 offers a balanced sound with good projection. The L355 is the heaviest in the series, and its weight brings out the deep, grounding frequencies of large gongs.

Like all ollihess mallets, the Special Editions are also crafted in small family-run workshops in Germany. Minor color variations between individual mallets are not a flaw, but a genuine sign of authentic craftsmanship. No two mallets are exactly alike—just like you.

The same material standards apply to the Special Editions as to our entire professional line. natural caoutchouc, Oeko-Tex fleece, and organically waxed beech —all materials are sustainably sourced, locally procured, and 100% vegan. Being special doesn’t have to mean sacrificing sustainability.
