How do I find out which mallet or friction mallet is right for me?

Are there also mallets or sets for beginners?
For beginners, we recommend our Essentials Set – with these mallets, you can fully explore the sound spectrum of your instrument. Additionally, the Lava Edition 40 mm and the Move Line 40 mm are particularly suitable for beginners — they are easy to handle and play with control.
Are your friction mallets also easy for beginners to use?
Yes, all our friction mallets are suitable for both beginners and professionals. Handling them requires some practice, but thanks to their ergonomic shape, specially textured surface, and high-quality materials, it's quick to produce beautiful sounds.
What is the difference between the Basic Mallets and the Professional Mallets?
Our Basic Mallets are more affordable and ideal for beginners. Our Professional Gong Mallets offer better weight balance, improved ergonomics, a wider range of colors, and more elaborate craftsmanship.
Materials & Sustainability
What materials are the mallets and friction mallets made of?
Almost all of our mallet heads are made from natural caoutchouc, covered with soft, high-quality wellness fleece. The handles are ergonomically shaped from organically waxed beech wood. The heads of our friction mallets are also made from sustainable natural caoutchouc and have a plastic handle. Learn more about the materials used here.
Do you have vegan mallets or friction mallets in your range?
Yes! Except for our Profi Gong Mallet lite, all mallets and friction mallets are free from animal components and are sustainably and ethically produced in small family businesses in Germany.
Are your products made sustainably?
Absolutely! Sustainability is very important to us. For the production of our mallets and friction mallets, we use environmentally friendly materials sourced from the local region. Additionally, in collaboration with Planet Tree, we regularly plant trees, supporting the reforestation of German forests. You can learn more about our values here.

How can I pay in your online shop?
Our shop offers a variety of payment options. You can pay for your order using the following payment methods:

Can I change my order after it's been placed?
Yes, as long as the order has not yet been shipped, a change is possible. To do so, contact us as soon as possible via email: info@ollihess.de.
Can I also pick up my order?
Pickup in Bruchhausen-Vilsen is possible by individual arrangement. Please contact us in advance: info@ollihess.de.
Are there discounts for larger orders?
For large bulk orders or orders from schools and institutions, please feel free to contact us, and we will see what is possible: info@ollihess.de.
Shipping & Delivery
What are the shipping costs within Germany?
Shipping costs are displayed at checkout and depend on the delivery country and order. If your purchase is over €150, your order qualifies for free shipping.
How long does shipping take?
Within Germany: approx. 2–4 business days. Within Europe: approx. 4–7 business days. Worldwide: approx. 7–14 business days.
Can I still change the delivery address after placing the order?
Changes are possible as long as your order has not yet been shipped. Please contact us as soon as possible: info@ollihess.de
Will I receive a tracking number?
Yes, as soon as your order is shipped, you will receive a shipping confirmation with a tracking link via email.
What happens if my package gets lost?
Please contact us: info@ollihess.de. We will clarify the matter with the shipping service provider and arrange for a replacement or refund.
Which countries do you ship to?
We ship worldwide! Whether within Germany, Europe, or internationally – your order will reach you safely.
Durability, Care & Storage
How durable are the gong mallets and friction mallets?
Our mallets and friction mallets are extremely durable. For intensive use, we recommend storing them in a dry, light-protected place. If you notice any wear or hardening, you can find tips for care and renewal in our blog post.
My gong mallet or friction mallet is dirty or even hardened, what can I do?
Our mallets and friction mallets are very durable and easy to care for. With improper or very intensive use over several years, deposits and hardening on the head can occur. You can learn how to prevent these or gently remove them in our article on cleaning and caring for mallets and friction mallets.
What's the best way to transport my mallets and friction mallets, and where should I store them?
We recommend using the included bag and always storing your mallets and friction mallets in a dry place, protected from sunlight. You can find more information about storage and care here.
Returns & Warranty
How long do I have to return my order?
You have 14 days to return your order to us without giving any reason.
Can I exchange an item?
Yes, gladly! Write to us about which item you would prefer instead, and we will discuss the process together.
Do I have to cover the return shipping costs myself?
Yes, return shipping costs are generally borne by the customer, unless there is a defect or an error on our part.
How long does a refund take?
As soon as we receive and inspect the item, we will refund the amount within 5 working days.
