62 Hz gong. The Blacksteel Sunrise Gong has a tone that falls between the other two and unfolds more slowly. First comes the fundamental tone, then the overtones build up on top of it.

This makes it a great instrument for starting a session and gradually building momentum. Its firm tone at Bb1 can be specifically harmonized with the voice or singing bowls .

Do I need a stand for the gong?

A stand is recommended, but not required. You can also play the gong very well while holding it in your hand. For stationary use—such as in your own room or studio—a stand is the better choice. It is not included with the product.

Is there a mallet in there?

No, you choose the mallet separately. That way, you'll get exactly the sound that suits you.

Which mallet is best for a 60-cm gong?

We recommend the Soft Line M for soft, sustained notes, the S186 for clear accents, the earthtone light edition for fresh tones with depth, and the CH 3 for the mid to low registers. It’s best to use two different ones so you can switch between them during a session.

Can I also play the gong with a " friction mallet "?

Yes. We recommend using a ball no larger than 50 mm. Larger ones friction mallet are too big for this size of gong.

Can I play several of the gongs at the same time?

Yes, and that's what they're made for. All three have a distinct fundamental tone, which is why they sound harmonious together rather than jarring.

Which of the three should I choose?

The "Stoneshimmer" at 49 Hz is the deepest; its sound fills the room and lingers. The "Sunrise" at 62 Hz falls somewhere in between and unfolds slowly. The "Oceanwave" at 69 Hz is the brightest and most dynamic. It's best to listen to the sound samples.

Why does my gong look different from the one in the photo?

The color is created by heat on the metal surface; it is a tempering color, not a coating. That is why each gong is unique in its coloration.
