Intense or Intense+: which edition is right for you?

The Intense Edition is the foundational model of the line, available in 50mm, 60mm, and 70mm. Its incredibly finely textured surface creates long-lasting, mid-range and deep frequencies when used as a friction mallet, enveloping your entire session like a sound bath. The Intense Edition+ takes it a step further: a new material in the handle makes playing even more precise and controllable, and the frequencies resonate for even longer. For those who want to get the absolute most out of their gong.

Those new to friction mallets should start with the Intense Edition. If you already have experience and are looking for even more control, choose the Intense+.

What makes the Intense Line's sound so special?

The secret lies in the material and the surface. The caoutchouc-rubber blend of the Intense Line reacts differently to the gong's surface than pure natural caoutchouc – the contact is finer, more direct, and therefore produces longer, more precise vibrations. The incredibly finely textured surface enhances this effect: less jerking, more consistent gliding, and more sound per movement.

The result is a friction mallet that penetrates particularly well into the deep and mid-range frequencies of a gong.

The three sizes: 50mm, 60mm, 70mm

The size of the friction mallet head determines which frequencies you can primarily access. The 50mm is the most precise of the three – ideal for targeted sound work and finer pitches. The 60mm is the most versatile – it addresses mid-range frequencies and is suitable for most gong sizes. The 70mm is the deepest – it produces the fullest, most melodic sounds and is especially at home with large gongs.

For beginners, we recommend the 60mm – it is the most forgiving and sounds good on almost any gong.

The Intense Line is handcrafted in Germany. The black plastic handle, with a diameter of 6-8mm, fits securely in your hand and allows for precise guidance across the gong's surface. Small irregularities in the textured surface are not flaws – they are the natural result of handcraftsmanship and make each friction mallet unique.
