Which Basic Gong Mallet is right for you?

The Basic Line includes two models. The PS-1, at 250g, is the lighter of the two – it delivers crisp, clear tones and feels comfortably light in hand. The PS-2, weighing 340g, has more heft and produces warm, deep sounds that draw you deeply into the gong's resonance. Both mallets are available in red and are made from the same material as our professional line.

For those just starting out and unsure which mallet is right, the PS-1 is the perfect first choice.

The name doesn't tell the whole story. Our Basic Gong Mallets are not compromise products – they are intentionally simple tools with a genuine ollihess sound character. Careful craftsmanship ensures that even light touches create a powerful, rich sound experience. Many professionals deliberately choose the Basic Line when they are looking for a reliable secondary instrument without much fuss.

Materials & Craftsmanship: the same standard as the Professional Line

Even in the Basic Line, we use natural caoutchouc for the core and Oeko-Tex fleece for the covering. The handle, made from organically waxed beech wood, fits ergonomically in the hand and gives the mallet its pleasant balance. Production takes place in family-run businesses in Germany – handmade, tested, reliable.
