The new earthtone light mallets are here – sound that can grow

With the new earthtone light Edition, we are expanding the earthtone Edition with three light, finely balanced mallets that open up new possibilities for your gong playing. Inspired by nature, they form the "branches and shoots" in the sound tree, which has already found its powerful trunk and roots with earthtone One & Two.

What distinguishes earthtone light from earthtone One & Two?

The existing earthtone mallets – One and Two – stand for maximum depth, weight, and grounding. With their particularly soft silicone heads and compact handles, they produce warm, carrying frequencies that can be felt deep within the body. They bring the gong to its full resonance and create a tonal basis on which everything else is built.

The new earthtone light mallets pick up where the original series left off, while also forging their own path: they are lighter, more agile, and fresher in sound, yet retain the series' characteristic groundedness. They bring more movement into play and are ideal for transitions, subtle accents, and dynamic sound design.

Three sizes, three sound characteristics

earth tone light L

It is the most powerful of the new series. With its larger head (60 mm), it produces a rich, warm sound – ideal if you want to combine volume with ease.

earth tone light M

This mallet offers the perfect balance: clear, present, flexible. With a 2-inch head and weighing only 3.5 ounces, it is suitable for many gong sizes and versatile sound progressions.

earth tone light S

It is the most delicate of the three. Weighing only 60 g and with a 40 mm head, it brings freshness, fine impulses, and subtle accents into play.

All models feature a slim, ergonomic handle made of oiled ash wood, which fits comfortably in the hand and does not cause fatigue even during longer sessions.

earthtone as a system: sound that is allowed to develop

The earthtone Edition is designed like a tree: Models One and Two form the foundation—with plenty of depth, weight, and resonance. They bring your gong to its fundamental frequency.
Olli Hess

The earthtone light mallets pick up where that leaves off and go even further: they add movement, subtlety, and texture. They can be used to shape soundscapes, build moods, and create transitions. Together, they form a flexible playing system that adapts to your style—from sound baths and sound meditation to the concert stage.

Craftsmanship with attitude

Like all our mallets, earthtone lights are manufactured in small family businesses in Germany. The materials used are vegan, regional, and durable. The head is made of silicone, covered with our super-soft wellness fleece in "forest." All handles are double-oiled and sealed with organic wax—for a natural, comfortable feel.

Conclusion: Play more easily, sound deeper

The new earthtone light mallets bring movement to your sound without losing depth. They expand your repertoire with lightness, structure, and dynamics—and complete the earthtone series.
