Gong players who inspire us: Alexander Renner

Alexander Renner is an experienced gong player, gong trainer and mental counselor with an important vision: to bring people back to their life energy and inner depth. He discovered his passion in the gong and has made it his profession today. In this article, you can find out why Alexander inspires us so much with his work and what connects him to Olli.

Who is Alexander Renner?

Alexander's path is a spiritual path full of discovery and growth. He was particularly inspired by his teacher and mentor Nanak Dev Singh Khalsa, with whom he completed a gong training course in white sound gong playing with Kundalini yoga in 2005 and was able to study in his vicinity for many years. He can now look back on almost 20 years of gong practice. The first 9 years were particularly characterized by intensive, transformative and energetic White Sound Gong meditations.

His journey to sound began in 2003 at the Kundalini Yoga Festival in France, where he experienced gong meditation for the first time and was deeply impressed by his later mentor. Since then, Alexander has had a remarkable career that has impressed us greatly: nine years of intensive gong meditations and gong baths, the development of his own gong trainings for groups, team gong trainings as well as individual 1:1 settings. Particularly noteworthy is his work at the "Worlds best Medical Spa 2014-2023" Lanserhof Tegernsee, where he played gong meditations from 2019 to 2023 and was booked for 1:1 mental counseling sessions with the gong. Since 2022, he has also been organizing regular gong and meditation retreats and leading extensive training courses in sound, therapy and individual techniques.

What does Alexander Renner offer and for whom?

The gong is a central element in almost everything Alexander brings into the world. He offers a wide range of gong meditations, including gentle gong meditations, white sound gong meditations and after-work relaxation gong sessions. In his 1:1 Mental Counseling with Gong, he guides people with frequency and sound into their own mental and physical power. In this way, he enables them to enjoy life in all its facets again and actively shape their own future.

Alexander organizes both online and offline gong trainings and offers gong mentoring. You can choose what suits you and your needs best from his special training program - whether you want to learn 1:1 or in a group. With his versatile offerings, he appeals to therapists, yoga and meditation teachers, doctors, naturopaths, coaches, counselors and people interested in sound in general who want to learn how to play the gong for themselves.

What characterizes him, his work and his gong playing?

If you are looking for clarity and structure, Alexander is the right person for you. It is important to Alexander that his methods and his own sound practice with the gong are well thought out and organized. He combines ancient Eastern wisdom with modern scientific findings from meditation research and always remains down-to-earth and comprehensible. Inspired by current research findings on sound, vibration and meditation, he is always looking for new ways to enrich his gong sessions. With his approach and minimalist setup, he achieves a great effect: clinics, spas and upscale hotel resorts also like to book Alexander for their guests.

Alexander Renner's special playing technique

One playing technique that Alexander often uses is playing with the middle, ring and little finger, which produces a special sound quality. It allows the player to play from the softest sound to energetic white noise with a minimum of physical effort. The mallet glides effortlessly over the gong, allowing its sound structure to be easily modeled. The gong sounds the way you want it to.

What connects Alexander and Olli?

A love of sound, traditional craftsmanship and a similar way of thinking and acting brought Olli and Alexander together. They met in 2014 during a gong-making weekend at Oetken Gongs. Since this first meeting, Alexander has also been playing ollihess mallets and reamers himself and sells them in his online store.

I consider his mallets to be the best on the market at the moment. I only play and recommend his mallets. But more of the harder ones, which allow a more precise sound.

The collaboration between the two is characterized by a consistent approach and shared values: They are both idea generators and implementers, from conception to realization, and their way of working is always characterized by openness, fairness and transparency.

Alexanders Top ollihess Gong Mallets

Alexander told us about four ollihess mallets that are among his favorites. Here he briefly explains what makes them so special:

  • ollihess Direct Line: "For me, the new White Sound Mallet. It is hard and direct and brings out all the sound and overtones from the gong without the strikes being audible."
  • ollihess Profi Gong Mallet S186: "My first mallet, which I have owned since 2014 and still use for 1:1 sessions and gentle gong baths or after-work gong sessions."
  • ollihess Intense Edition gong driver: "Used on large gongs, the friction mallet produces a fast and controllable sound without smearing or abrasion."
  • ollihess Profi Gong Chakra Mallet CH3: "Perfect for relax sessions, as it offers four different touch points with different padding and posture, with which I can play different sounds and accents from soft to very hard.
