Olli Hess is a creative thinker, maker, and pragmatist. His roots are in craftsmanship, but his heart beats for sound.

His drive is to create tools that open up unique soundscapes, inspire, and touch people. He never stops thinking ahead, combining materials in new ways, and developing instruments that make sound tangible.

For the Love of Sound

During Peter Hess sound massage, Olli discovered his passion for gongs – and the desire to develop sound tools. When Olli realized that conventional mallets didn't fully bring out the sound, he began to experiment. With a lathe, countless tests, and a lot of patience, he finally found the perfect combination for a mallet: natural caoutchouc as the core, Oekotex Wellnessfleece as the outer layer.

Tools that Make a Difference

The result of his work was revolutionary. Since then, Olli has continuously developed new mallets and friction mallets that impress with consistently high-quality materials and outstanding sound.

Development of Own Gongs

At a music fair in 2009, gong maker Broder Oetken asked the crucial question: "Do you need good gongs?" This led not only to a close friendship but also to a groundbreaking collaboration. Together, Olli and Broder developed gongs that go beyond the usual – they create soundscapes that were not previously possible.
