The interplay between the fundamental and the overtone series is harmonious, long-lasting, and remains constant in its tuning to each other until it fades out.

The name “Freya” comes from the Norse goddess of love, happiness and spring. Its gentleness and devotion is reflected in the sound spectrum of the Gong Freya: it penetrates to your heart space and makes your spirit gentle.

Nickel silver is one of the world’s highest quality metals. The special mixture of copper, nickel and zinc gives the material its special properties. Nickel silver is not only particularly resistant to corrosion, it is also a metal with high strength. For you this means: With the Gong Freya made of nickel silver you get an instrument that you will enjoy for a long time.

Due to its special composition, nickel silver also enables particularly fine and precise sound spectra. Unlike bronze gongs, the sound of a nickel silver gong changes only slightly due to relaxation, aging, or the influence of gong playing.

The ollihess gong Freya has a diameter of 36 inches, or 91 centimeters and a weight of 11 kilograms.

Sound rich in overtones with the flat gong Freya

A flat gong is an almost flat disc, usually slightly curved back at the edge. Like our Gong Freya, flat gongs are formed from a very thin material that gets thinner towards the edge. Due to the special processing, the vibrations can spread more easily on the instrument. In contrast to the humped gong, the flat gong is played on the entire surface.

The ollihess gong Freya 36 inch is a very overtone-heavy gong that works especially on your chest and head area. The name comes from the Nordic wan goddess of love, which emphasizes the special effect of the gong on the heart space.

Our gong Freya, like all our gongs, is made in the family manufactory Oetken by the gong farmer Broder especially for Olli Hess. We attach great importance to top quality, therefore manufacturing is possible only in small quantities, usually on order.
